Dear Mare,

Little lightning girl, there’s some irony in that. You might be little in physicalities (is that even a word?) but in strength, you are giant. If I were in your situation, I would crash and burn, probably literally.

I want to ask shy you trusted him, but I know why. That guy deserves an Oscar for his acting, or an Emmy. Actually let’s just give him every single acting award that exists, because damn, he could convince an astronaut that the Earth is flat. How can a guy that seems so nice actually be the most cold-hearted person ever? If the world were black-and-white, he would be pitch black, the colour of endless void. However, your world is silver-and-red and not black-and-white, and there are many shades in between. Cal is one of them, and you are too. Maybe even more than anyone. Not just in your blood, but also in your actions. The things you’ve done, the people that died, all for the good cause. They’re all on you now, don’t forget that.

You know how in Cinderella, one of her sisters cuts of her toes, just to fit in a shoe? That’s you. Only you didn’t do it voluntarily. They kicked, pressed, molded you into this perfect shape of a Silver princess. They can change your appearance, the way you look, the way you talk, the way you walk, but they can’t change what’s inside you.

I have not experienced discrimination first hand, but I do hate it. In my younger years I have been bullied for many years and it is horrible. I can’t imagine what some people have to go through, just because someone thinks their gender, race, or skin tone isn’t good enough. In your case the colour of your blood. I met someone once that said that he wasn’t discriminating and racist because he hates all foreigners equally. All I wanted was to punch him in the face with a dictionary, but I didn’t. You would probably have done it. What the silvers don’t realize is that they might despise you, but hey would be nowhere without the reds.

What’s coming for you isn’t easy, but with the help of your friends you will rise. Red as dawn.

Take care,

Lia
