WWW Wednesday | My first ever ARCs!

In this weekly meme which is hosted by Taking on A World of Words I talk about what I am reading this week. WWW Wednesday consists of three questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

What I am currently reading

The books that I am reading are: The Light Fantastic by Sarah Combs, The Last One by Alexandra Oliva and The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson.

As you might have noticed from my twitter and goodreads updates, The Light Fantasic really freaked me out yesterday. I had no idea what the book was about when I started and then I figured out it was about mass-shootings at schools in the US and I got scared. But after a good night of sleep I feel a lot better and it doesn’t freak me out anymore. This book is not for the light-hearted!

The Last One reminds me a lot of The Hunger Games. I started reading this book because my father was talking about it and it sounded really interesting. I am not really far into the book (50 pages or something), but so far it’s good. It’s about a tv-show in which 12 people are dropped in the woods and are doing challenges and things. But the thing is, the only way to stop is to give up, and the contestants don’t know this. There is a lot of manipulation behind the scenes of the show, which is really interesting. It is also an adult literary thriller, which I never read, so that will be interesting.

The Beauty of Darkness will take me a while to finish, because I am listening to the audiobook, which is 18 hours long. I am currently about 4 hours in.

What I recently finished reading

I got my first ever ARC from NetGalley, which was A Mortal Song by Megan Crewe. And it was pretty good! I reviewed the book here.

Shadow and Bone, the first book in the Grisha trilogy, I rated 4/5 stars. I am looking forward to the next books in the series! Also I’m really curious to see why everybody seems to love and hate the Darkling so much.

What I will be reading next

I first want to finish The Light Fantastic and then I’ll probably move on to the next ARC in my list, which will be either Time Keeper by Tara Sim or The Reader by M.K. Harkins. Both are reviewed pretty good on goodreads, so I’m curious to see what I’ll think of them. Also Time Keeper is not out yet so that’s pretty cool, to be able to read a book before it is actually published.

What are you reading? And have you read any of these books?

  2. I haven’t read any of the books. I don’t know why but The Light Fantastic sparked my interest. I’m almost done with reading Insurgent and then I will move on to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Nothanger Abbey.
And Congrats on getting your first ARCs!
