Top 10 Tuesday | New-To-Me Authors

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme by The Broke & The Bookish, this week the theme is: Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read For The First Time In 2016. I have read a lot of books this past year, and I have discovered so many authors. During the summer I discovered BookTube which left me with a gigantic TBR because there were so many amazing books that I had never heard of before that!

Here are 10 authors I discovered in 2016

  • Alice Oseman. //Contemporary YA//

The writer of one of my favourite new discoveries Radio Silence (review), and Solitaire (which I have yet to read).

  • Jane Austen. //Classics//

Of course well known for her Pride & Prejudice, which was by far my favourite classic I read this year, but also wrote quite some other novels, of which I read a few with the Austentations book club.

  • Nicola Yoon. //Contemporary YA//

I loved Everything, Everything (review) and I can’t wait to read The Sun is Also A Star! I’ll definitely keep my eye out for more Yoon books.

  • Marissa Meyer. //Fantasy/sci-fi YA//

This is one of my favourite writers right now, because I loved The Lunar Chronicles and can’t wait to read Heartless!

  • Andy Weir. //Sci-fi//

The Martian was so funny and such a great sci-fi book, I loved it!

  • Morgan Matson. //Contemporary YA//

I have read Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour such a long time ago, but I rediscovered Morgan Matson this year when I read Since You’ve Been Gone.

  • Pittacus Lore. //Sci-fi YA//

Well-known for the book/movie I Am Number Four, I am dying to read the rest of the Lorien Legacies!

  • Mary E. Pearson //Fantasy YA//

Her Remnant Chronicles series is one of my favourite series of this year! The series consists of The Kiss of Deception, The Heart of Betrayal and The Beauty of Darkness.

  • Renee Ahdier //Fantasy YA//

I read The Wrath and The Dawn (review) last month together with Jasmine and I really enjoyed it. I loved Shahrzad, she’s such a great character!

  • Alexandra Bracken //Fantasy YA//

During the summer I read Passenger, which is an awesome book about time travel.

  • Marie Lu //Dystopic YA//

I have read the first book in her series, Legend, which was surprising and very interesting because you had two very opposing viewpoints.

Who is your favourite new discovery?

  2. I discovered Booktube this year as well and my TBR went from 20-400 in no time at all. My favorite discover of this year was Patrick Ness. His writing is outstanding. If you have not Read ” A Monster Calls” by him you are missing out. The book is fabulous and it was my favorite book of this year by far.

A Monster Calls is still on my TBR sadly, but I will read it. I have read the The Knife of Never Letting Go series by Patrick Ness, which was really good!
