Fight like a YA girl Tag

I was tagged by Lyndsey from Lyndsey’s Book Blog, so thank you! I love strong female characters (which is also why my female characters in the novel I am working on right now are so strong and fierce), so this tag is perfect!

The rules

  • Thank the person who tagged you.
  • Mention the creator Krysti at YA and Wine
  • Match at least one YA girl with each of the themes below.
  • Tag as many people as you like!

Warrior girls

Rabiah from Rabiah: The Gift. I got the chance to read this book from the author in exchange for a review a few months ago. I loved Rabiah’s fierce character. She’s definitely a warrior!

Girls who fight with their mind

I would say Hermione but I will say Cinder from the Lunar Chronicles instead. Cinder is a really down-to-earth character and also really smart. She always does what is right.

Girls who fight with their heart

Karou from Daughter of Smoke and Bone, she is not only an amazing person, but she would do anything for the people she loves. Her love literally brings a war and her love also fixes it.

Girls who are trained fighters

Lia from The Remnant Chronicles. This post would not be complete with at least a mention of Lia. Lia is not only amazing with a sword, she also kicks ass in other ways. She is kind and caring, loyal and fights for justice.

Strong girls of colour

I cannot not say Inej from Six of Crows because she is one of my absolute favourite characters and she’s strong and she can fight and she’s just amazing.

Girls who fight to survive

Danny from the Dreadnought series. Danielle (Danny) is a transgender girl who is also a superhero and has to fight very often to be able to survive. She is strong and caring and will not give up easily.

Girls who are weapons masters

I don’t really know? I’ve mentioned Inej and Lia and Rabiah already, all of those would fit with this category.

Girls with kick-butt magical powers

Six from The Lorien Legacies series. The moment Six got introduced in the first book, she was the most bad-ass person ever. Seriously. Bombs exploding, monsters attacking and guns blazing and Six just casually saves everyone.

Strong girls in contemporary novels

Libby from Holding Up The Universe. To quote my review: “Yes she is fat, but that doesn’t define her. She is so brave and wise and I admire her for being that way. She has been bullied, scolded, hated and has been through so much and still, she is able to stand up to her bullies and most important stand up for herself.”

Seriously fierce girls

Shahrzad from The Wrath and The Dawn duology. Shahrzad is outspoken and loud, she is brave and does everything for the ones she loves.

Most anticipated book with a strong leading lady

I believe both 27 hours and Renegades have strong female leads, and those are highly anticipated reads for me! And also Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody, which does not have a cover yet.

What’s your favourite badass YA girl? Do you know any more YA characters with amazing weapon skills?
