September Wrap-Up | It was a weird month

September flew by, it feels like August was only a few days ago but at the same time it feels like school has started forever ago… September was an odd reading month for me. Some books took me forever to get through and some I read so quickly! I took part in the #TackleTBR readathon in which I read a lot and which was a lot of fun!

Overall I read 9 books in September, which is a lot but not as much as I normally read in a month. Over the past months, I have read at least 11 books per month (if I remember correctly), but that’s okay. I do wish I had been able to finish one more book this month because then I would have completed my goodreads challenge of 100 books!

  • A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab ★★★★★ I absolutely loved this book. I loved the first book in the series but I just loved this one even more! I loved the Games and I loved that Lila got a bigger role and it was just perfection.
  • A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking (no star rating) THIS BOOK TOOK ME F O R E V E R to get through, I started this in January or February? I don’t even remember that’s how long it took me.
  • Good Angel by A.M. Blaushild ★★★☆I liked this book but I didn’t love it. review here.
  • A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab ★★★★★ This book was again amazing, it did take me a very long time to get through though since it was that big!
  • Karina’s Silver Shoes by Denise Marques Leitao ★★ This book was a bit of a mess, it was quite confusing and I didn’t really like the characters. review here.
  • The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James ★★★★ This was such a surprise, it’s like part contemporary set in space and part thriller and it was so well-written. I loved it!
  • 27 Hours by Tristina Wright ★★★★ There is a lot of controversy around this book but I did really like it and I think it is a great start for a series. review here.
  • Things I’m Seeing Without You by Peter Bognanni ★★★☆ I liked this book… but something about it just wasn’t quite right for me. review will be up soon.
  • How Hard Can Love be? by Holly Bourne ★★★★☆ I read Am I Normal Yet? Last month and I absolutely loved it so I had to pick up the second book in the series as well and again, I loved it. Holly Bourne really has the potential to become one of my new favourite authors.

A Quick Look at my TBR

Since I haven’t read that much this month, I haven’t made much progress on my TBR. This month I added to my TBR (but haven’t read yet):

I actually own all of these books now (most of them in ebook form) so yay! The current state of my TBR is 31 books, which is 2 books more than in August.

In October, I’m going to take part in Inktober, which means you make an ink drawing every day of October. Info here! Are you also participating?

How was your month? Have you read any of these books? OR ARE ANY OF THESE BOOKS ON YOUR TBR? I’D LOVE TO HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS IF YOU READ ANY OF THESE!

  1. 31 books on your TBR is pretty good! I have just under 450 (physical books I own) and over a hundred on my kindle. Drowning in TBR books, You’ve added some pretty amazing books on to your TBR, WW is fantastic and so is ‘the long way to a small angry planet’. I need to look into the Dream Rep Bingo because it looks fantastic! Great reads!

    1. Oh wow! I am really selective about which books I put on my tbr and which I don’t! I only buy books if I really plan on reading them soon, unless if they’re on sale or second-hand then I’m a bit less strict haha.
Thanks! I hope I’ll love them! Dream Rep Bingo is really cool, you can make your own bingo card which you fill with representation you like to see more in books!

  2. I am BEYOND excited for you to read Wolf by Wolf. Despite my major issues with the use of the German language in the book, it’s one of my favorite duologies. I really hope you’ll enjoy it!
I am still stuck reading 27 Hours … somehow I just can’t get through it. It’s tough …

    1. Oh yay! I’m so glad you loved Wolf by Wolf! I don’t know much German so I hope it won’t bother me haha
27 Hours took me quite a while to get really into but I loved it in the end! I hope you like it!

    1. It is not for me haha! I read usually 2 books at the same time but I’m also reading a classic I can’t get through on the side (by which I mean, it’s on my bedside table but I barely ever pick it up)

  3. You’ve read so many amazing books this month!! I missed the 27 hours controversy and rolled in right at the end where everyone had an opinion but nobody was saying what the actual issue was, so I have no idea what’s going on but I’m glad you still enjoyed it!
I really want to try to read VE Schwab because so many people really enjoy her books. Also Wonderwoman seems AMAZING so I hope you have the chance to read it this month!
    Happy October!!!

    1. Oh well basically, people thought that the cultural background of the POC characters was very absent (so basically, that they could have been Caucasian and it wouldn’t have changed a thing) and that it was really focused on a colonist perspective (the main characters are the immigrants and basically hate the planet’s native species)
V.E. Schwab is absolutely amazing! Her books are the best! I love them! Thank you! Happy October to you too!

  4. So any lovely books! I love seeing someone else mention how fantastic the Shades of Magic series is! 😀 And your TBR is looking really good! Wonder Woman is on mine as well! Hopefully it lives up to its hype. I’ve heard of some of the other ones, too! Hope you enjoy those ones as well 🙂
