My Most Anticipated Books of 2018

I realize this is not exactly the most original topic to write about, I’ve seen about a hundred post like this one but you guys told me on twitter to write it so here I am! My list of most anticipated releases consists mainly of V.E. Schwab books (which sadly do not all come out this year :P) but I have plenty of others too! Most of these are from authors I’ve read before, that is because I tend to wait a little until there are more reviews so I can make up my mind about others. Anyway, let’s get into it!

The Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

The Muse of Nightmares is the second book in the Strange the Dreamer duology. I have not yet finished Strange the Dreamer (hush!) but I started reading it a few days ago and I think I will love it! I am anticipating Muse of Nightmares so much! I still don’t really know what it is exactly about but it is mysterious about lost cities, librarians, gods and other fun things. It’s by one of my favourite authors so I am pretty sure I will love it.

There is no publication date or cover revealed yet, but it is set to come out in 2018. Add it on goodreads.

Vicious RD 2

Vicious (repackaged) and Vengeful by V.E. Schwab

Vicious is the first book in this duology (?) and Vengeful is the second book which will come out this year. I haven’t read Vicious yet, but I am waiting for the new edition with the gorgeous new cover (just look at it!!) to be sold! I need it so much! This is about two scientists who find out the secret to superpowers and it’s about morally grey characters that turn into villains and it sounds absolutely amazing.

The Vicious repackage will come out on May 29th 2018 and the sequel Vengeful will (probably) come out on September 25th 2018. Add Vicious on goodreads, add Vengeful on goodreads.

Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman

Summer Bird Blue is the new book by the author of Starfish which was one of my favourite books this year. Summer Bird Blue will with no doubt be as amazing as her debut! It will be about sexuality, grief and family and sounds like it’s going to be amazing.

Summer Bird Blue is set to come out in Fall 2018. Add it on goodreads.

I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman

This book is according to the goodreads page released on January 11th but I don’t really think that’s true. There’s still no cover and no update on the goodreads page for when it is going to be released. Anyway, I’m really looking forward to reading more of Alice Oseman’s work! She wrote Radio Silence which was perfection and her webseries Heartstopper is to die for. This book will be about a boy band, and there’s a transgender boy and that’s pretty much all I know.

Release date unknown. Update: Alice Oseman told on twitter it will be out this spring, but no release date is set. Add it on goodreads.

Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann

This book is about a woman of colour who is biromantic and asexual which made me want to put it on my tbr immediately. It’s a romance story I believe but it sounds great and I can’t wait to pick it up!

Let’s Talk About Love is set to come out on January 23rd 2018. Add it on goodreads.

The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza by Shaun David Hutchinson

I’ve only read one Shaun David Hutchinson book so far but I’m planning on reading them all! His books are all a little weird (okay, very weird), beautifully written and very queer. This is Hutchinson’s first book with a female protagonist and it sounds great! The main character is bi and there’s an f/f ship so I’m hyped.

The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza is set to come out on February 6th 2018. Add it on goodreads.

Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston

Ashley Poston is writing a sci-fi book! I’m so hyped! Ashley Poston is the author of Geekerella which was a super geeky, cute retelling of Cinderella about a girl who was obsessed with a sci-fi tv show. I need that tv show in my life but I guess that’s not going to happen so this book will be a good replacement. I don’t really know what it is about and I want to keep it that way!

Heart of Iron is set to come out on February 27th 2018. Add it on goodreads.

Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I really really REALLY need Obsidio!! Obsidio is the third and final book in the Illuminea Files series and the first (Illuminae) and second (Gemina) blew me away. They were so good. Illuminae was my favourite read of 2017 and I can’t wait to finish this series! This is a science-fiction series about spaceships, betrayals, exploding things, crooked AI systems and much more fun things!

Obsidio is set to come out on March 13th 2018. Add it on goodreads.

Leah on the Offbeat by  Becky Albertalli

Leah was one of the side characters in Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda and this will be a sequel to that! I am so excited to read more about Simon and Leah! Leah was one of my favourite characters from Simon Vs. and she’s awesome, bi and chubby. I cannot wait!

Leah on the Offbeat is set to come out on April 24 2018. Add it on goodreads.

Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody

I AM SO HYPED SO SO HYPED. Ace of Shades is Amanda Foody’s second book and it reminds me a little of Six of Crows: it’s about anti-hero’s, con-men and casinos and it sounds absolutely amazing. I was so lucky to have received an eARC which I will read in spring because I’m waiting for my friend (Swetlana) to get her ARC so we can buddy read it! AND I ALSO AM ON THE STREET TEAM (can you hear me squealing?), and it will be so much fun with challenges #Scarhands4TheWin!

Ace of Shades is set to come out on April 10th 2018. Add it on goodreads.

Honorable mentions: A Girl Like That by Tanaz Bhathena – This Tiny Perfect World by Lauren Gibaldi – Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi – A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews – Blue Wild Wonders by Carlie Sorosiak – Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan SpoonerTime Bomb by Joelle Charbonneau

What is on your most anticipated books of 2018 list? Any of the books I mentioned before perhaps? Any books you added to your tbr because of this list? Do you want to go on a preorder spree now too?

  1. i think the book i most look forward to tackling this year is Moby Dick. I should probably start now, because it will, undoubtedly, take me the entire year.

  2. None of those books are on my TBR, but I have good things about some of them! My most anticipated book is Heroine’s Journey by Sarah Kuhn. It is the third and final book in the Heroine Complex series. The first book was one of my all time favorite books but the second one was pretty bad. I’m hoping the third one turns it around!

Also, I tagged you in the Amazon’s “100 Books to Read in a Lifetime” Tag:
