This time last year, I made a list of goals and I just remembered I did that so now we’re going to look back at these goals and see if I actually accomplished them! I did the This Time Next Year Tag and I’ll look back at that! I will also make new goals for 2018.
Because nobody sent me questions (I’m looking at you twitter folks. No hard feelings :P), I’m just going to answer all the questions I ask myself way too often and then answer them too (because why not). The reason for me doing this Q&A is because I think aromanticism is relatively unknown and though it is part of the LGBT+ spectrum, it gets little attention. When I asked whether people would be interested in reading this Q&A 28% did not even know what it was. So it is time!
Before last summer, the only reason I came to youtube was for music, however, this changed a lot. Now I follow quite a bunch of channels and have discovered amazing content, so I thought it was time to share the love and share this with you.
Ariel Bisset – Ariel has the most amazing content, although her taste in books is not really the same as mine, her personality makes every video worth watching. She has a lot of discussions and they always inspire me and make me think.
A Clockwork Reader – I think this is one of the only “mainstream/famous” booktubers I follow, but she just has a wonderful voice to listen to and her opinions are always so honest and she seems like a kind and awesome person.
The Book Leo – I initially followed her because she’s Dutch and I like that 😛 She’s really creative in her videos and content! However, she isn’t uploading as much anymore, which I think is sad, but watching her older videos is still a joy.
The Book Prophet – Last but not least, my friend Savannah from over at The Book Prophet only recently started a booktube channel and you should all go follow her because she’s awesome!
Writers & Vloggers
Alice Oseman – The writer of Radio Silence and Solitaire not only has a lovely character but is also really fun to listen to. She has fun vlogs but also how-to videos on writing.
Akemi Dawn Bowman – I followed her channel before I won a giveaway from her, and I’m sad to say I’ve not yet have read the ARC of the book Starfish I received (it has been on my shelves for what feels like forever), but I can’t wait to read it! Akemi is a fangirl and does bookish unboxings and she’s just super nice!
vlogbrothers – This is by far my absolute favourite of this list. Hank and John Green (yes, the writer) are two of my favourite people in this world. They are funny, sensible, intelligent, inspiring, kind and create awesome content. If you look through their videos they discuss topics from politics to cats, from life advice to silly jokes, anything goes.
Photography & Video
Mango Street – This channel I only discovered recently but they share a lot of inspiring tips and tricks to get better at photography, plus (sorry Idk their names) the people behind it are really nice people and just fun to listen to.
Peter McKinnon – Peter is a very talented photographer that shares amazing content and lots and lots of tips. He also vlogs and he seems like an awesome person.
Ollie Ritchie – If you’ve followed me on twitter (@lost_in_a_story), you might have noticed me raving about this person. Ollie is a video maker and photographer and his work is just phenomenal. It’s so inspiring (especially some of his earlier work, I’m a huge fan of MOUNTAINS, a short movie) and watching his videos just makes you want to go out and see the world.
Vox – This channel has such interesting videos and I already learned a lot from all the ones I watched. If you’re interested in basically anything, go check out their channel.
Have you found some new youtubers you want to follow from this list? Who is your favourite youtuber?
Hellooooo, this is super random because I didn’t know what to post today. I’m still working on the newbie blogger project and I’ve been waiting for more submissions. I’ve gotten a few but I’d love to get some more to get this project really started. So, if you’re new at blogging, go check out this post.
I’m going to participate in a couple of projects, first The Typewriter Project by Mahriya from My Bookish Life, which I’m 100% sure will be super awesome. It’s a writing project and there are challenges and stuff, and you can still participate if you want (but be quick! Deadline is the 17th). Second, the Big Blogger, Little Blogger project by Mikaela from A Well Thumbed Reader, whose blog I only just discovered but already love. Basically bigger bloggers (which is me whoohoo) take little bloggers under their wing and try to help them. Sadly you can’t participate anymore because couples have already been formed. My partners are *drumroll* Nicole and Antonia from A Dance Between Pages and I’m super excited to get to know them, so hi Nicole! Hi Antonia!
I wanted to upgrade my url from my blog because I’ve been wanting to do that from the beginning but it’s so expensive… and it would be such a hassle to change it so, yeah that’s not happening any day soon.
My writing has been getting a bit less priority and is last on my to-do lists, which are pretty big. I haven’t even had the time or motivation to write a single word this week. I’ve been planning in my head and thinking about the characters of this book AND the next, and I can’t really wait to start really working on that, but like I said, time is an issue.
What I’ve been up to lately is a lot of reading, I’ve been trying to get through my ARC to-be-read list, which is pretty big. I’ve been writing reviews and scheduling those. So when I’ve gotten that over with, I can continue with all those books that have been not-so-patiently waiting on my shelves.
Last week I’ve been at uni for projects pretty much every day until late, which is exhausting, but surprisingly fun. I’m hoping that this week will be less busy and I can start writing again.
But now, for the exciting news, today I got a notification from wordpress, I HAVE REACHED 500 FOLLOWERS. LIKE WHATTT??? I would love to give back some love to the community, so if you’ve got an idea for something I can do…? Suggestions are welcome.
And who knows maybe there will be a giveaway in the future?
THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH AND I LOVE YOU ❤
Back in December I was tagged for the Who Am I Tag by Emma Lauren from Corn Book Reviews, thank you Emma! This is a really interesting tag, and very different from the types of tags I usually do.
- What is the meaning of my name?
Lia means nothing except that it’s an abbreviation from names ending in “lia”, but my real name actually has a beautiful meaning (which I cannot tell you because I don’t want you knowing my name).
- What is my Myer-Briggs personality type? (Link)
Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the Mediator personality type – but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration.
I like this! It really fits my personality. However, I might be a little less dreamy as this description says, and I also am not really gifted at languages. I have done such a test a while ago and then I got ISTJ, which is a lot different. While filling out this test I realised how much more confident I have become in the last couple of years!
- What is my Zodiac Sign?
This is always a problem for me because I’m in between Leo and Virgo, it really depends on the horoscope. I believe that because the zodiac signs shifted that I’m officially a Leo though.
- What is my Hogwarts House? (Link)
My initial thought: Hufflepuff (and a little Ravenclaw)
According to the test:
Hufflepuff – 17
Ravenclaw – 13
Gryffindor – 9
Slytherin – 7
Hah I was right!
- What is my learning style? (LINK)
- Visual 4
- Aural 7
- Read/Write 4
- Kinesthetic 7
You have a multimodal learning preference. (AK)
Not sure what that means, but I assume it’s good.
- Am I Right or Left Brain Dominant? (Link)
I am left brain dominant because I am right handed and that is the real answer to this question but I’ll do the test just to see what it gives:
I use my brain equally.
- What is my Blood Type?
I have absolutely no clue?
- What Career Am I Meant To Have? (Link)
Writer. You have a skill for language, your imagination is vast and you are artistic and creative. Your brain is just overflowing with ideas, and all you have to do is get a piece of paper and share it with the world. You were born to turn words into magical stories
Hmm.. I’m on the right track then!
- Which Divergent Faction Do I Belong In? (Link)
My first thought was Erudite or maybe Amity but I never expected this! I’m apparently very fit for Candor, does that have anything to do with that I choose Blue in the quiz?
- What Does My Birth Order Say About Me? (Link)
I’m a second and middle child, which would mean that I am a social butterfly, peacekeeper, and fairness-obsessed, which I would not really say so. This probably has to do with the fact that I have an older brother (with aspergers), I act more like the first-born: a natural leader, ambitious, and responsible.
I am not tagging anyone, but I’m leaving this open for anyone who wants to! It’s really fun to do these little tests and think about what they say about you.
Do you think Candor fits me? I’ve never thought of myself as someone who would fit in Candor… Does your name has a fun meaning?
This is just a short announcement, I’ll be away for the upcoming week. I’m going skiing and snowboarding and hopefully not hurting myself along the way. I am not such a hero on a snowboard, so let’s not repeat what I did last year and fall on my arm, which led me not being able to write without hurting myself for weeks. Oops.
Anyway, I’ll be back next Sunday! I have some posts scheduled for the coming week so I won’t be absent. I will probably don’t have wifi (or really bad wifi), so won’t be able to reply to messages, comments, emails, and everything else. I will not be able to keep up to date with all your blog posts so sorry in advance.
I will not be able to keep up to date with all your blog posts so sorry in advance. If you tag me in any posts please link back to one of my posts so I’ll get a notification, or send me a message/comment, then I will take a look at it when I’m back.
My monthly wrap-up will come after I return!
Have a wonderful week everybody!
In about 10 hours from when ‘m writing this the new year begins and that makes this the perfect day to look back at what you did and what you’re going to do. What is life without a little self-improvement? I love looking back, but right now I’m going to look ahead.
My life is always so busy with everything, and I love being busy, but sometimes I need a break from it. I’ve come to realize that there are so many things that I want to do, and so many hobbies I would like to keep up with. There are some changes I want to pursue in my life and what better time is there than the New Year? I’ve got some resolutions! I don’t really have resolutions at all actually, but this year I have, which feels weird. Anyway, let’s get into it.
In 2017 I will
- Eat less meat. I don’t want to become a vegetarian, because I do love to eat meat from time to time, but I just want to eat less meat. At Christmas dinner my dad had made some kind of deer stew and I felt so horrible about eating it. Seriously, I couldn’t eat more than a few bites. I don’t like meat that much (besides, it’s really expensive) so I thought why not eat less?
- Get more organized. My life is a mess most of the time, I have so many ideas and plans but they get all jumbled in my head and I forget about them. I would like to change that. So I’m going to make a planner in which I’ll write everything down. I’ll also start writing blog posts ahead and plan out my tasks.
- Get my driver’s license. Finally! Yay! I hope to get it before spring, so maybe (just maybe) I can actually go somewhere on my own, and not have to take the train!
- Get high grades. My grades aren’t bad, but lately my motivation has gone down and I barely do more than is necessary for school. And I really want to get my grades up again! At least some eights and nines should be feasible!
- Blog less but have more interesting content. I blog daily now, and sometimes I just don’t have time on a day, so I do an easy tag or something else, and I don’t want to do quick posts. I want content that’s really interesting, so I’m going to stop forcing myself to write every day. I will do more personal and more discussion-type of posts in the future.
- Keep writing. This month, I’ve written more than any month, and I loved it! I just need that little push to keep writing. I’m also going to try NaNo in November, so I’ve got to prep for that!
- Draw more. I want to draw more, both just for fun, but also so I can get some more designs in my society6 store.
- Not quit photography. In February, when my photography club ends, I know I’ll be relieved (I don’t like the meetings that much) but I don’t want to stop photography all-together.
- Read a lot! I’m trying to up my goal to 100 books this year. I am thinking about also trying to read some non-fiction, like self-help/informational books/popular science books, because they’re so inspiring and interesting. I’ve been interested in reading Quiet by Susan Cain for a while, so that might be the first non-fictional book I’ll read.
This Time Next Year Tag
I was tagged a long while ago (over a month) for Sarah’s tag This Time Next Year. Thank you Sarah for the tag! I think this is a great idea and I should have done this a long while ago. So sorry for that. I couldn’t come up with anything at first, so I procrastinated (I should probably put that on my list as well: stop procrastinating so often)
- Thank the person who tagged you
- Write your goals for next year
- Write how you’re going to achieve your goals
- Tag at least 5 of your blogger friends to share their goals
- Then if you wish in 365 days write a post for everyone to see if you have been successful or not!
This time next year… I will have participated in NaNoWriMo, and not given up
I will do this by practicing writing a lot, I plan on keeping writing every week or month. So I at least get more easily into that “writer mood”, you know the fluent typing thing: when you’re just writing and writing without thinking too much about it. I will also plan my project, I will have thought of a story idea before the end of October. Then in November I will start planning my novel, using a very elaborate outline (because I will need that).
This time next year… I’ll be finishing up my Bachelor End Project, and hopefully I will graduate “met genoegen” ( I don’t know what it’s called in English, it means you’ve got a 7.5 or higher on average)
I will do this by keep working hard, keep up with all my courses and get high grades. I will need to nail some exams (getting grades of eights and higher), which means that I’ll need to study hard and don’t settle for a six.
This time next year… I’ll be more organized in my blogging, writing, school and basically everything
I will do this by keeping a planner, and I think I will use a combination of regular planning and bullet journaling, because I’ve used it in the past and bullet journaling works quite well for me. I have written a post about planning and organizing that will go up tomorrow on Ally’s blog.
I would love to know what your goals are this year, so tell me below or do this tag! I tag everybody who wants to do (sorry I’m not tagging anyone in specific because I know a lot of people already did a post like this one).
What are your goals?
